While the team that builds Scaniverse is based in the US, well over 80% of the 3D photos posted to the map are from elsewhere in the world, covering 112 countries and counting!

To recognize and support our contributors from around the world, we’re adding support for languages beyond English, starting with Japanese and German.

It’s simple: anyone with Japanese or German as their default language in iOS will have their preferences carry over to the Scaniverse app.

If you prefer to keep using the app in English, simply toggle in Settings.

We’d like to give a particular shout-out to Japan, our #1 country, with about 50% more posts than the US.

From historical castles to cutting edge architecture, from cozy campfires to bustling city scenes, and especially all the steaming hot bowls of ramen or udon—Japanese scanners are some of the most prolific and accomplished splat creators on the planet.

Thanks to these scanners Japan’s rich cultural heritage is on display and searchable to nearly anyone with a mobile phone. Now you can wander the streets of Shinjuku or explore relics from the Daimyos, right from the comfort of your home.

And Japanese scanners, if you’re as excited about the future of spatial computing and XR as we are, we hope to see you at XR Kaigi, Tokyo’s largest annual event for AR and VR. If you’re going to XR Kaigi, we hope you’ll stop by our booth and say hello.

We plan to add more languages, and add support for multiple languages to our Android app. We’re following where the app’s being used to determine which to add next.
