We’re listing to your requests on the Community. Here’s some updates we’ve released for the iOS app with version 4.0.3. (We’re actively working on Android too!)
Posting to the map is now faster: We moved some of the uploading to the background, and we made the file size smaller by shaving off unnecessary data. Sharing your splats with the world now takes even less of your time.
You can now change the name of your scan after you’ve posted it to the map. In case inspiration strikes after your splat is already uploaded, or you notice a typo right after uploading, you can give your map post a new name. Handy!
If you already have a screen name on another Niantic property such as Pokémon GO, and you sign in to Scaniverse using the same Google or Apple account, you’ll now keep the same username; no need to come up with a new one. If you have a Scaniverse account but don’t yet have a Niantic ID, you’ll be able to sign up for one just as before. (You can create splats and meshes on Scaniverse without an account, but you will need one to upload them or see the ones other people have shared.)
And don’t forget about one of the coolest parts of Scaniverse! You can see a preview of the Gaussian splat ellipsoids taking shape as you’re capturing, which gives you the confidence that you’re thoroughly capturing the important parts of a scene. No other splatting apps can do this. You are watching the machine learning model at work on your phone!
Upgrade today at the App Store, and let us know what you think on the Community. Thanks for scanning and sharing!
