It’s been three and a half months since we introduced a global map of ‘splats’ for Scaniverse on iOS.
Already, people in over 100 countries have contributed, collectively creating the world’s largest library of 3D Gaussian splats—searchable and explorable from a mobile device. Your scans are the building blocks of a new reality, a world where the digital and physical merge seamlessly. (Learn more about why splats are such a big deal in a brief explainer or an in-depth history.)
Today, we’re welcoming Android scanners to the Scaniverse map! We invite you to join the global community shaping the future of 3D images and spatial computing. Once you upgrade to Scaniverse 4.0, the app will open onto the map, from which you can jump into any 3D photo to explore.
Search the Worldwide Map
The white beacons represent splats uploaded by individual Scaniverse contributors, while the blue ones represent 3D photos compiled from community contributions from other Niantic properties.. Peruse the animated thumbnails, then hop in and move around the 3D scene. Like splats to spread some love and also to add to your My Likes list.

Alternatively, use Discover to see some of the latest 3D photos from around the world. Swipe up to see what’s next. We like to call this joyscrolling.
Share Your Favorite Splats
And, of course, you can now add your own scans to the map. Upload any you’ve already taken of public places, or create new ones. (May we suggest our Holiday Treasure Hunt for ideas?)
More to Come
The Android app launched earlier this year and has been catching up quickly to the features of our iOS app. There is still some feature parity to come, such as editing and exporting videos of splats. Please join our community site to stay up to date with the Android app. Thank you for your suggestions, encouragement, and most of all, sharing your enthusiasm for 3D Gaussian Splatting!
